Not sure where to start? Start with a conversation.

  • You’re not sure what kind of support you need.
  • Something isn’t quite right at school and you’re unsure what to do next.
  • You’ve got questions but don’t know who to ask.
  • You’re at the beginning of your child’s SEND journey.
  • You’ve got a meeting or decision coming up and aren’t sure where to begin.
  • You want to know whether I can actually help before booking anything.

Before we talk

When you book, I’ll ask you for a little bit of information about what you’d like to discuss. Nothing lengthy- just enough to give me an idea of what’s going on.

You don’t need to send me a bundle of documents beforehand.

2

During the call

We’ll talk about what’s happening, what’s worrying you and what you’ve already tried. I’ll probably ask a few questions to help me understand the situation properly.

I’ll give you my initial thoughts and, where I can, point you towards a sensible next step.

It’s a conversation, not an assessment.

3

Afterwards

Sometimes the call itself will be enough. You might leave knowing who you need to speak to, what question to ask or where to find the information you need.

If I think one of my other services would genuinely help, I’ll explain which one and why. If free support or somebody else would be better, I’ll tell you that instead.

There’s no follow-up sales pitch.

What can we talk about?

  • Something that’s happening at school
  • SEND Support and what it might look like
  • A meeting you’ve got coming up
  • A question about an EHCP or support plan
  • Concerns about learning, progress or wellbeing
  • Attendance or difficulties getting into school
  • Understanding what your possible next steps are
  • Which SRO Education service, if any, might help

Any parent or carer who wants to talk through an educational concern can book one. Your child doesn’t need to have a diagnosis, an EHCP or identified SEND. You might be right at the beginning of wondering whether something isn’t quite working, or you might already have been navigating support for some time.

No. I’ll ask for a little information when you book so I know what you’d like to talk about, but you don’t need to prepare anything formal. If you’ve got a particular letter or piece of information that’s relevant, you’re welcome to have it nearby, but please don’t feel you need to gather every document you’ve ever received.

You’re welcome to mention what’s in them, but a Clarity Call isn’t a document review. I can’t properly read and advise on an EHCP, professional report or other detailed paperwork in a free 30-minute call. If you’d like me to look at documents properly, I’ll explain which service would be more appropriate.

Yes. What you tell me is treated in confidence and your information isn’t shared with your child’s school, local authority or anyone else without your agreement, unless I’m required to do so by law or I reasonably believe someone is at risk of harm.

I’ll tell you. I can help with educational questions, SEND support, planning and preparing for conversations with school, but I don’t provide legal advice or legal representation. If your situation needs specialist legal support, I’ll point you towards an appropriate source of help where I can.

No. Sometimes I’ll suggest another SRO Education service because I genuinely think more time or a different kind of support would help. Sometimes I’ll point you towards SENDIASS, IPSEA, your child’s school or another service instead. And sometimes the Clarity Call will be all you need. There is no expectation that you will book anything afterwards.

I am usually able to deliver the Clarity Call within two weeks of your first message to me. If your call is more urgent, due to a meeting deadline, please mention this when getting in touch, and I will aim to prioritise.

If there’s more to unpack.
If you need a plan, not just a conversation.
If you’ve got an important meeting coming up.
